Alpha Xi Delta’s Philanthropic Focus
The Kindly Hearts Initiative
The Kindly Hearts Initiative serves as the umbrella to our national philanthropic focus of supporting children and teens experiencing foster care or homelessness. Alpha Xi Deltas across the country support two Key Impact Organizations, FosterClub and StandUp for Kids, making a national and regional difference under the umbrella of our focus.
Letters of Love
All Alpha Xi Delta chapters and alumnae associations participate in Letters of Love, Alpha Xi Delta’s national letter writing fundraising campaign. Held annually during the month of November this campaign benefits Alpha Xi Delta’s two Key Impact Organizations, StandUp for Kids and FosterClub.
Our Chapter's Impact:
In 2021, Alpha Xi Delta made the decision to start on a new and exciting philanthropic journey. This was a big undertaking, so for the 2021–2022 school year, AXiD chose to create a campaign meant to tackle issues our local communities were facing in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, called the Kindly Hearts Campaign. This was an amazing, one-year opportunity to make a direct difference to the New Orleans area, which was suffering due to the huge drop in tourism for over a year, and the cancellation of Mardi Gras 2021. To do this, we partnered with the Krewe of Red Beans, whose mission is to make sure that our community culture bearers - the people who are the heart and soul of the Crescent City - were able to survive financially when many of them were out of work because they are musicians, performers, and artists who relied on our tourism industry to survive. We were able to raise quite a bit for this cause through bake sales, sports tournaments, and our yearly male pageant, Xi Man. Making a difference for the people who made many of us fall in love with New Orleans was such a rewarding experience.
Looking forward to the 2024-2025 school year and beyond, Alpha Xi Delta has since decided on a new philanthropic focus: The Kindly Hearts Initiative. This initiative seeks to provide support to children experiencing foster care or homelessness. We are currently working with the New Orleans Women and Children Shelter and are so excited to go on this journey into helping young people in our community!
