Each year, the sisters of Delta Epsilon work hard to raise funds for Autism Speaks. Many of our sisters have personal connections to our philanthropy, which makes us extremely dedicated to our cause of awareness, acceptance, and advocating. In Spring 2016, we hosted Speak Week, with daily events and fundraisers, such as movie screenings and a basketball tournament, leading up to the Louisiana Autism Speaks Walk. Delta Epsilon served as the first organization outside of Autism Speaks to ever host the walk, and raised over $40,000 in doing so. Our chapter has been recognized by Alpha Xi Delta Fraternity Headquarters and Autism Speaks on social media, and has also received a personal thank you from the Autism Speaks president for our dedication and hard work.
This year at Alpha Xi Delta's 2017 National Convention, our chapter received 1st place College Chapter Philanthropy Golden Megaphone Award for raising over $1,000 per chapter member for Autism Speaks, College Chapter Philanthropy Changing the Future Award and our Chapter Advisor received the Suzanne Wright Alumna Philanthropist of the Year Award!
On April 4, 2016, our at the time President, Philanthropy Chair, and Chapter Advisor spent their day at the Louisiana State Capitol as representatives of Delta Epsilon as alumna Rep. Julie Skinner Stokes presented a proclamation declaring April 2016 Autism Awareness Month in the state of Louisiana.
